Here are some websites that check other websites you suspect might be, shall we say, "less than honorable" or legitimate.
If you choose to use any one of these services, it might be best to use them all. One website I checked using these sites was rated 'safe' by one and as a 'scam' or 'untrustworthy' by the others.

- ScamAdviser : From their website, "Check ScamAdviser Before You Buy".
- ScamDoc Digital Trust Rating : From their website, "Scamdoc is a web tool that evaluates "digital
identities" reliability (email address or website). It provides answers to questions frequently asked by Internet users: How to check if a website is reliable or not? How to detect fraudulent emails? How much
do I trust a website or an Internet correspondent?"
