There are a number of tools available online to help you as you design your site. If you are as 'color-challenged' as I am, these are life savers. Maybe you're great with color design and just stuck with a blank canvas. Or maybe these are new to you. If so, they can get you "unstuck" and moving forward with your latest project.

  • 0to255 is a simple tool that helps web designers find variations of any color. Perfect for hovers, borders, gradients, and more.
  • Color: The Scheme of Things This page on the SitePoint website discusses the differences between monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic, and tetradic (also called double complementary) color schemes.
  • Color Theory 101 : discusses primary, secondary, tertiary, complimentary, analogous, triad, split complimentary, square, tetradic, warm, and cool colors as well as tints and shades. Also discussed are the meanings of colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and black).
