Free Audio Sources

 

 

Do you need audio segments for a project you're working on? Here are a few sources of free, and royalty-free, audio pieces you may be interested in checking out.

  • Amazon Music : Some famous and not-so-famous bands available for free download. You can sort and then browse within various categories, but there is no search capability.
  • Audio Archive : Download or listen to free music and audio. This library contains recordings ranging from alternative news programming, to Grateful Dead concerts, to Old Time Radio shows, to book and poetry readings, to original music uploaded by our users. Many of these audios and MP3s are available for free download.
  • Audio Library : "Creative Commons - Attribution 3.0 Unported"
  • Bensound : "Free Music for Videos. Download our copyright safe music for use in your videos on Youtube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, ... You just have to give us attribution." Free and Premium levels.
  • Chosic : Background music, free downloads of royalty free music (attribution NOT required). Free use in YouTube and all projects, including commercial purposes and/or monetization.
  • FindSounds : A free site where you can search the Web for sound effects.
  • Free Music Archive : "Your #1 resource for royalty-free and 'free to download' music. Great music for YouTube, Facebook, podcasts and other media projects. The iconic Creative Commons 'free to download' music community."
  • Freesound is a collaborative database of Creative Commons Licensed sounds. Browse, download and share sounds.
  • The Internet Archive's Audio Archive : "Download or listen to free music and audio. This library contains recordings ranging from alternative news programming, to Grateful Dead concerts, to Old Time Radio shows, to book and poetry readings, to original music uploaded by our users. Many of these audio files and MP3s are available for free download. Check our FAQ to be sure which is which."
  • last.fm : Free downloads from the music discovery service that gives you personalised recommendations based on the music you listen to.
  • mixkit : "Incredible free sound effects for you to use in your next video project, for free!"
  • MotionElements : "Background music for videos. BGM music, Sound Effects from our royalty free music library of over 500,000+ tracks." They also have a section for sound effects.
  • MusOpen : "Set Music Free. We provide recordings, sheet music and textbooks to the public for free, without copyright restrictions. Put simply, our mission is to set music free." Mostly or entirely dedicated to classical music.
  • Open Music Archive is a collaborative project, initiated by artists Eileen Simpson & Ben White, to source, digitise and distribute out-of-copyright sound recordings. The archive is open for anyone to use and contribute to.
  • PacDV Free Music Tracks : You may use these tracks free of charge in your video, film, audio and multimedia productions. All we ask is that you link back to our site or mention "Music by www.pacdv.com/sounds/" in your credits. Please, note that you are not allowed re-sell these music tracks to others, post on a website for download (as downloadable music tracks), or link directly to the individual music tracks on our server.
  • The YouTube Free Music Audio Library can be found here, here and here here : "Royalty-free music for YouTube creators and casual listeners alike.
