Free Video Clips and Tools

If you're looking for free multimedia clips for your website or next project, be aware of the difference between Royalty Free and Public Domain. (Disclaimer: the information contained on this page is not written by an attorney and is not to be taken as legal advice.)

"Royalty Free" clips may or may not be free. In general this means you do not have to pay royalty fees each time you use the clip. You may pay an up front fee, but then no additional fees. It depends on the site and their policies.

Sometimes websites, or the copyright holder, will request attribution of credit either in the form of text or a link to their site.

  • AllTheFreeStock : As of this writing, there are 18 sites listed as offering free videos (FYI: there are some "dead" links). (Many other resources are also listed here). This site notes that because these sites offer "different licenses, it's a good idea to check the terms of use on each site before you use them." I couldn't agree more.
