Additional resources to help you maintain your security while online.

Clicking on any of the links below will open a new window or tab and take you to another website. Phase One has no control over these websites. Please use caution when visiting them. And, as with all free software, please investigate before downloading to be sure they are safe and free from malware.


Here are some browser plugins designed to help you avoid phishing sites, browse safely and protect your personal data.

  • AVG Online Security : "Worry free browsing at your fingertips — our browser extension ensures nothing puts you or your data at risk." - for Chrome
  • Bitdefender Traffic Light : "Cutting edge browser protection, including advanced malware filter, protection against phishing attacks, trackers identifier, and link scanner."

This set of links will let you know if viruses, trojans and the like have been found on the site in which you are interested. They won't necessarily check for spammers or scammers.

  • Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal : "Check suspicious files, file hashes, IP addresses and web addresses to validate and prioritize associated security alerts."
  • McAfee Site Advisor : After clicking on the link provided, replace "somewebsite.com" in the website address field of your browser with a Domain Name of your choice (then press Enter or Return). The "https://" or "https://www." of the address is not required.
  • Online Link Scan : Scan links for harmful threats.
  • Phish Tank : "Join the fight against phishing. Submit suspected phishes. Track the status of your submissions. Verify other users' submissions."
  • PSafe Link Checker : From dfnder lab - "One of the world's leading cybersecurity labs. Join the fight to stop hackers by sharing dfndr lab's URL checker."

  • QualSys BrowserCheck : "Check your browser. Qualys BrowserCheck will perform a security analysis of your browser and plugins, and will run several system checks including the Top4 Security Controls." Can be used with or without installing their plugin.
  • deseat.me : "Clean up your online presence - Instantly get a list of all your accounts, matched with direct links so you can easily delete them." It's not 100% complete, but this will take you most of the way there.
  • Down Detector : Check to see if a site is down for everyone or just you.
  • From JustDelete.me:
    Delete My Accounts : A directory of direct links to delete your account(s) from various web services.
    Fake Identity Generator : Have you ever generated a fake identity in order to maintain what little privacy we have left? Do you find it tedious each time you need to do this? With this service, you can generate new fake identities in seconds, including a fake name, address, date of birth, username, password and biography.
  • Random Password Generator - MX Toolbox : This password generator tool will generate 15 secure, random passwords which are designed to meet the requirements of most systems. It also generates passwords in several categories for your convenience, including one that should be easy to pronounce and remember. The generation happens in your web browser so the data is never transmitted to MxToolBox and we cannot know the passwords. We have set this page so your browser will not cache, but please close your browser tab when you are finished!
  • Network Tools from MX Toolbox : Many network diagnostic tools, including: DNS Lookup for MX records, DNS Lookup for IP addresses, Test mail server SMTP, DNS reverse lookup, whois Domain lookup, Check your DNS Servers, Domain Health Report, whatismyip IP and location
  • Privnote : "Send notes that will self-destruct after being read."
  • Scam Audit : Wanna know if you can trust a website? Find a complete in-depth report about any website.
  • Use A Passphrase : From their website: "Why should I use a random passphrase? Try as we might, humans usually end up using one of a few predictable patterns when creating passwords. Random passphrases provide the best combination of memorability and security." The password "p%9y#k&yFm?" takes approximately 90,182,663 centuries to crack. Secure, but for most of us, impossible to remember. They suggest using four words separated by spaces. This password "logic finite eager ratio" takes approximately 189,658,722 centuries to crack. You can decide which to use.
  • What is my IP Address? : If someone asks you what your IP Address is, this is one way to find out.
  • What's My DNS? : Global DNS Propagation Checker - Instantly perform a DNS lookup to check a domain name's current IP address and DNS record information against multiple name servers located in different parts of the world. This allows you to check the current state of DNS propagation after having made changes to your domains records.
